In my request for help in tracing my Ancestors, I made a mistake in the birth dates for my Grandmother and Grandfather. The correction is, Margaret MacKenzie, born 1862 Little Bras' Do'r. Peter MacKenzie, born 1842, Boularderie,Cape Breton, N.S. I believe their residence was Sydney, N.S. There was a twenty year difference in ages..My Grandfather Peter sailed on his first voyage in 1862, on the "Brig" "Ascold" out of Beverly, Mass. The voyage was around and through the West Indies and around South America.. The voyage took approx nine months plus...
There is another Ship listed in the papers I received from Sailors Snug Harbor as the Schooners "Sabine" and "S.R.Lane", 1875-1876..  It is also revealed to me that my Grandfather sailed for a total of twenty two years..He also sailed out of Gloucester,Mass. His record indicates that he sailed under the British Flag for seven years. He sailed under the American Flag for fifteen years. There is listed service as eight years coastline and seven years sea (deep Water) under the American Flag. Seven years sea under Brithis Flag, and it says that he had seven of those years on a Whaler, under what Flag I do not know. My Grandfather was naturalized an American Citizen in Feb, 1875. He has letters and recommendations from a Capt. George H. Chisholm, of the "Bark" "Daniel", dated 1868...As employers, he has listed, Empire Transportation Co. personal letter from the President of the company, New Haven, Connecticut. Another letter from Samuel Lane & Brother of Gloucester, Mass, dated JUNE 11, 1878. According to my papers, he sailed mostly out of Gloucester, Mass. New York and New Haven, Connecticut. If my Grandfather sailed for twenty two years, and these official papers state that, I was wondering why only two or three ships are listed that he sailed on. In twenty two years at sea he must have sailed on more ships...Would be interersting to find out the names of these ships and where and when he sailed...   One more thing, when my Grandmother and grandfather married, 1880? there was child born named Annabelle. God Bless her she died at three months old. There must be a grave or burial marker for the child somewhere. I do not know where Grandparents were living then. It could have been somewhere in Cape Breton, or New Haven, Connecticut... I guess the burial marker would say Child, Annabelle MacKenzie, 1880 of Annabelle McKenzie. I hope some folks out there can help with some information,,,  Best Regards, John (Jack) MacKenzie

Am searching for Alexander MacKenzie - or his descendants. He was in the Royal Artillery and disappeared in India in the 1920s. His family would be so happy to know what happened to him.

I am trying to find out if my family name, Kennison and variant spellings, is associated with the Clan MacKenzie. Since MacKenzie's Gaelic name means "son of Kenneth" I figured I could be on the right track. I'm looking for my family's tartan, crest and so on and have traced the name to this family or the Clan MacFarlane. I don't know if either one is my ancestor. Please help. Thanks.
